Dr. Steve Gallop, Behavioral Optometrist

Dr. Steve

Hi, I'm Dr. Steve Gallop, Behavioral Optometrist. My private practice - in Broomall, PA - has been serving the Philadelphia metropolitan area since 1990. I specialize in providing thorough visual evaluations, which are quite different from any 'eye exam' you've ever had or heard about (unless of course you've already seen a behavioral optometrist). This kind of evaluation is extremely important for people with developmental challenges, especially children on the autism spectrum. A developmental visual evaluation is also necessary for those with reading difficulties or learning issues. Any child who has been labeled as having ADD, ADHD or Dyslexia is likely to have undiagnosed visual problems. In fact it is common for visual problems to go unrecognized and then eye misdiagnosed as ADD, ADHD or Dyslexia. Parents who have been told that their child needs eye muscle surgery (strabismus surgery) because of a lazy eye should always have a behavioral optometrist evaluate the child before agreeing to surgery. The same goes for people of any age who are less than satisfied with the results of previous eye muscle surgery. Thorough visual evaluations are also critical for those with computer-related visual problems, post-concussion syndrome, acquired brain injuries and anyone who just isn't getting answers to their visual issues from standard eye care professionals. I believe that a thorough visual evaluation is preferable even if you think all you need is a new pair of glasses or contact lenses though most of my patients have more significant visual concerns. I have extensive experience evaluating and treating all kinds of visual problems for people of all ages using vision therapy and a truly unique approach to prescribing lenses that can do much more than just make the eye chart clear.

Feel free to wander around my website to get in-depth information on may topics related to vision and learning, vision and child development, behavioral optometry, vision therapy, lenses, etc. Contact me or simply pick up the phone and give me a call at 610-356-7425. I will personally answer your questions.

Thank you for stopping by. I look forward to hearing from you.

Steve Gallop, O.D.

  • "I want to say that I continue to be amazed at the changes in Jesse. He reads a lot more – not just what he has to read, but for pleasure, and much more quickly than before. He also seems to enjoy writing much more. He told me the other day that he enjoys writing in the journal I got for him. Miracle! He also said that he thinks school has gotten easier and is a lot more fun. I have not made it any easier. He is just able to do it without getting headaches and being frustrated and tired. Score! In his P.E. co-op class, he was recently tested on ball skills and met every standard for his age. His teacher commented on how amazing his improvement has been over the last year. I am so thankful and he, of course, is thrilled.

I really appreciate all you have done.

    Many blessings,"

  • "I am forever grateful to you and the wonderful service you have provided. My vision therapy has had an amazing impact on my life, on so many levels. As I have learned to rely less on my “overprescribed” glasses, and I have reached much clarity and direction with which to move forward. I am able to “see” and understand myself as well as all my interactions more clearly. I feel more trusting of myself and the universe I am so connected to. My inner self has more fully blossomed, I seem to be more balanced, peaceful, content, helpful; and less indecisive, anxious, and attached! I miss my sessions already; they were great fun.

    Take care,

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you"
